The Police in Minna, Niger State, have said they arrested four suspects in connection with the abduction of a woman in Gwanda village of Rijau Local Government Area of the state.

Two locally made pistols and a Dane gun were recovered from the suspects.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement made available to journalists in Minna yesterday gave the names of the suspects as Shehu Mohammed ,35, of T/Magajiya village; Mamman Sani of Shenjiri town, 37, of old Daudu Mohammed of Udu village, and Jibrin Ahmodu of Genu village in  Rijau Local Government Areas.

Wasiu Abiodun explained that the female victim, who escaped from the suspected kidnappers, was able to identify one of the kidnappers leading to others being apprehended

Abiodun said: “The suspects have confessed to the crime and they are under investigation,” adding that they will be charged to court soon

In another development, the Police spokesman disclosed that a trailer with registration Number NDG161XA which diverted 900 bags of cement expected to be delivered in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, was arrested in Minna.

One suspects, Abdullahi Basiru of Sokoto State, was arrested in connection with the crime, while the driver of the vehicle is still at large according to the police.

Abiodun said the suspect confessed that he and the driver now at large conspired to divert and sell the content of the vehicle after which they will abandon the truck and disappear.

The police spokesman said while the hunt for the driver of the vehicle has commenced, the conductor will be charged to court on the completion of investigation.
