The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, Alhaji Muritala Ajaka, yesterday said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would conduct the election according to its guidelines.
Ajaka gave the assurance after the inauguration of citizens interactive/donations website held at his campaign office in Abuja.
He said the SDP had confidence in the INEC, noting that the commission and its officials “are well prepared for the election. We have absolute confidence in INEC.”
“The rules are very clear. INEC has a guideline and they have always followed their guideline. Whichever way INEC decides to conduct the election, we are ready to follow them.
“I have absolute confidence in INEC that we are going to have a transparent election in Kogi. By the grace of God, we are going to win.
“We are prepared in all ramifications, they will be the ones to challenge us in court when we win. By the grace of God, with the support of our people, we are winning.
He said the people of Kogi East had taken “a decision as to who is their choice. Their choice is Muri Ajaka. So, there is nothing like the Igala agenda, what we have is the Kogi agenda.”
Speaking on the interactive website, Legal Secretary, Ajaka Campaign Organisation, Mr. Realwan Okpanachi. said the website was for interactions between the candidate and the indigenes of Kogi State.
Okpanachi said: “Through the website, our people and supporters can donate towards Ajaka’s campaign. The candidate will get information from indigenes of the state that may need assistance in their various communities regarding basic amenities needed in their communities or the state capital should Muri come into power.
“We are here today for the official unveiling of the various citizen interactive websites or crowd-funding channels. The Muri/Sam Liberation Project is purely a people’s project.
“As such, these channels, apart from seeking the financial support of the citizens towards building a better Kogi State, are also out to really give the people the ownership.”
