TRCN Inducts 296 Graduates of Osun University into Teaching Profession

The Registrar/Chief Executive of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, at the weekend inducted into the teaching profession 296 graduates of the College of Education of the Osun State University for 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
The graduates are professionals that sat and passed the qualifying examination of the TRCN recently.
Also, the Provost of the College, Prof. Florence Adeoti Yusuf, posited that the teachers are builders of the nation, saying without teachers, there would be no nation.
In his maiden speech at the occasion, Professor Ajiboye noted that the inductees are no ordinary teachers but professional teachers, having been certified by the professional body, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
According to him, “The induction is a prerequisite for confirmation of the status of a teacher as a professional, It is a stage every teacher must pass through before he/she could be considered qualified to teach. It is the process that is targeted at giving due recognition to well-trained professional teachers.”
He stressed that the inductees affirmed their dedication and commitment to the profession by taking the oath, and were formally recognised as professional teachers.
The theme of the induction lecture for this year is ‘Becoming a Teacherpreneur of the 21st Century: Implications for Creativity and Innovation’.
However, the lecture is targeted at making graduates of the College of Education be able to add value to society and become self- sustained individuals.
However, the Provost of the College Prof. Florence Adeoti Yusuf, charged the students during her welcome address to explore opportunities around them and let them know the need for them to start from nowhere to become a giants.
She emphasised that there is a paradigm shift in the teaching profession that the teacher need to create multiple avenue to make more income for them to be able to live comfortably and alleviate poverty.
She remarked: “You will be faced with diverse opportunities and you will need to make informed choices, so I charge you today to commit your hearts to optimising your hindsight, insight and foresight for effective decisions that guarantee productive sustainability as what lies ahead is far greater than can be imagined.”
The professor urged them not to rest on their oars towards the attainment of higher heights in the professional calling, and wished them success, as they embark on this exciting chapter of their career.
